From Nemi to Monte Cavo through the Via Sacra

Walking along the Via Sacra is something magical: immersed in the dense wood in a kind of natural tunnel, you can still imagine it traveled by pilgrims who went to the sanctuary of Jupiter Laziale on Monte Albano (the Olympus of the Latins). A beautiful excursion will take us through a path rich in history, very special atmospheres and luxuriant nature, up to a wonderful panoramic terrace overlooking the lakes of Albano and Nemi. We will end our journey along the paths of the Sacred Wood of the goddess Diana, under the shade of majestic chestnuts and walnuts, at the shores of Lake Nemi where the temple dedicated to Diana once stood, a majestic temple once formed by baths, theaters and all those places dedicated to spontaneous cults to the Goddess, and obviously a sancta sanctorum reserved for mystery cults and initiates. The route develops within the Castelli Romani Regional Park, established in 1984, populated by various animals such as foxes, wild boars, porcupines, dormice, hedgehogs, moles, buzzards, kestrels, owls, woodpeckers and a flora consisting in part of the mixed original QTA forest (oaks, limes, maples).
